Algorithms for Sonar Tracking in Biomimetic Robotics

چکیده

Bats are suspected of using predictive tracking in their insect-capture behavior. In Webster and Brazier (1965) they are observed capturing rapidly accelerating moths in the presence of vegetation. This is of interest in the context of sonar-guided behavior in biomimetic robotics. Engineering approaches to that problem often use radar tracking algorithms, particularly various Kalman filters, which have limited biological realism. This paper examines the effectiveness of those algorithms in a task often performed by echolocating bats—the capture of maneuvering insects.

BatSLAM: Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Using Biomimetic Sonar

We propose to combine a biomimetic navigation model which solves a simultaneous localization and mapping task with a biomimetic sonar mounted on a mobile robot to address two related questions. First, can robotic sonar sensing lead to intelligent interactions with complex environments? Second, can we model sonar based spatial orientation and the construction of spatial maps by bats? To address ...

Clutter Removal in Sonar Image Target Tracking Using PHD Filter

In this paper we have presented a new procedure for sonar image target tracking using PHD filter besides K-means algorithm in high density clutter environment. We have presented K-means as data clustering technique in this paper to estimate the location of targets. Sonar images target tracking is a very good sample of high clutter environment. As can be seen, PHD filter because of its special f...

Triangulation-based fusion of sonar data with application in robot pose tracking

In this paper a sensor fusion scheme, called triangulation-based fusion (TBF) of sonar data, is presented. This algorithm delivers stable natural point landmarks, which appear in practically all indoor environments, i.e., vertical edges like door posts, table legs, and so forth. The landmark precision is in most cases within centimeters. The TBF algorithm is implemented as a voting scheme, whic...

PHD and CPHD Algorithms Based on a Novel Detection Probability Applied in an Active Sonar Tracking System

Underwater multi-targets tracking has always been a difficult problem in active sonar tracking systems. In order to estimate the parameters of time-varying multi-targets moving in underwater environments, based on the Bayesian filtering framework, the Random Finite Set (RFS) is introduced to multi-targets tracking, which not only avoids the problem of data association in multi-targets tracking,...

A Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer by Individual Best Memory and Penalty Factor for Sonar and Radar Dataset Classification

Meta-heuristic Algorithms (MA) are widely accepted as excellent ways to solve a variety of optimization problems in recent decades. Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is a novel Meta-heuristic Algorithm (MA) that has been generated a great deal of research interest due to its advantages such as simple implementation and powerful exploitation. This study proposes a novel GWO-based MA and two extra fea...
